Interesting. There is a rotating selection of exotics with Montana plates that parks in a reserved space in my office complex as well. Cars have included a red Ferrari 458, a yellow 911 Turbo, a recent Corvette Convertible which I think is a ZR-1, an early 80s vintage 911 Targa  and some terrible Land Rover thing.

It would be a real shame if someone found out what car insurer they use and inform them that their car spends an inordinate amount of time in a location not close to it's registration state. Same goes for the state DOT.

Haha I know exactly what you are talking about. I live about 10 minutes from old town Clifton so I'm there all the time. I love seeing it. So many great driving roads in the area. I take it you live around here as well?

When I lived in Wisconsin, a friend of mine had several out-of-state friends with exotic and/or tuner cars register their cars at his address. Renewing registration is only $75/year there, and there’s no emissions testing, safety inspection, etc. Well, the 7 counties in southeast Wisconsin around Milwaukee and down towards Illinois d o emissions, but the Madison area where I was didn’t have it.

Virginia on the other hand charges yearly property tax on the value of cars. It goes down as the car depreciates, but still, when you’re talking a $300k or whatever Ferrari, that can be a big recurring tax bill.

God, property tax is such bullshit...the fact that we are all okay paying the government simply because we own something has always pissed me off. Revenue should come from sales and income tax alone in my opinion (primarily income tax).
